Barça do not seem to want to throw in the towel for Frenkie De Jong. And precisely for this reason, he moved a whole offensive of the club’s staff to Amsterdam on Thursday.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Barca expedition, led by President Josep Maria Bartomeu, was composed of Eric Abidal, Technical Secretary; and Pep Segura, General Manager. They would have met De Jong and his agent to make the player understand that the best decision to change teams is to stop at the Camp Nou.
While everything seemed to indicate that Frenkie De Jong would eventually take the PSG route, this latest attempt by the entire Barcelona staff to convince him increased the pressure on the Ajax player’s decision.
In the coming days, De Jong and his agent are expected to meet with Ajax leaders to communicate the final decision on the future of the Arkel native.
Barça hopes to get the player’s “ok” so that they can then start negotiations with the Dutch team.
