PGAC: Paris tries to redeem itself after the controversial tweets of its ambassador

After the very controversial tweets of the French ambassador to the United States concerning the PGAC, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement to say to anyone who would listen to it: “Oh how much, he is attached to Iran and the 5+1 agreement”.

In response to a question about the tweets of the French Ambassador to the United States Gérard Araud on “Iran’s enrichment of uranium in the post-Nuclear era”, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Paris remained faithful and committed to the nuclear agreement and the Joint Global Action Plan (JGP).

“France remains loyal to the PGAC and as long as Iran respects all its nuclear commitments, it will support it,” it is written in this response from the French Ministry.

The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that the PGAC was unanimously adopted and validated by the UN Security Council through Resolution 2231 of 2015 and that it constitutes a key element of the nuclear non-proliferation system as well as an important factor for regional and international security.

Yesterday, following the controversial tweets of the French ambassador in Washington, Philippe Thiébaud, the French ambassador in Tehran, was summoned to the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
