A U.S. congresswoman, candidate for the 2020 presidential election, describes Saudi Arabia as the world’s biggest sponsor of terrorism.
U.S. Democratic presidential hopeful Tulsi Gabbard said Thursday that Saudi Arabia is the main sponsor of both terrorism and terrorist ideology, and she regretted Washington’s alliance with Riyadh.
The legislator assures that Saudi Arabia directly finances takfiri terrorist groups such as EIIL (Daesh, in Arabic) and Al-Qaeda, whose violent and criminal acts have left tens of thousands of victims.
“Saudi Arabia is the main sponsor of terrorism and the radical ideology that leads to terrorist organizations like Al-Qaeda and Daesh,” said Gabbard, who has warned against selling sensitive equipment to the Arab country, as it could fall into the hands of terrorists.
The congresswoman has cited a report on the sale of high-tech nuclear equipment to Saudi Arabia by the Administration of U.S. President Donald Trump and has warned that such trade puts the United States in great danger.
Different American experts and politicians have warned Washington of the danger of possession of atomic weapons by Saudi Arabia, “a country that cannot be trusted with a bone saw,” in the words of Brad Sherman, a Democrat member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
On the other hand, there are already reports that since 2013 Saudi Arabia has CSS-2 intermediate-range ballistic missiles (IRBMs) – with a range of 4800 kilometers – of Chinese production, which have a margin of error of between 1 and 1.5 kilometers, so they are not suitable for conventional use and would only serve to carry nuclear warheads.
